Concerned About a Tongue Tie or Lip Tie?

Dr Gordon Bunt provides individualized assessment to help determine whether a restricted frenulum may be clinically relevant and whether treatment is appropriate.

Tethered oral tissues, such as tongue ties and lip ties, can frequently be misdiagnosed or remain hidden, leading to a range of challenges for individuals of all ages.

HOW WE APPROACH CARE:

LISTEN — ASSESS — EXPLAIN — DECIDE

tongue tie

Minimally invasive lip and tongue tie laser surgery.

Tongue and lip ties can be treated, when deemed appropriate , with a simple surgical procedure called a frenectomy.

The release of a tongue-tie or lip-tie can be performed using surgical scissors, but this can cause excess bleeding or scar tissue formation, and ultimately delayed healing .

At Quinte Tongue Tie Centre, we utilize a dental CO2 laser, which is designed to be less invasive and more precise. This advanced technology allows us to safely and effectively release the tongue or lip restriction, ensuring a comfortable experience for our patients with faster healing and reduced post-operative discomfort. Our focus is on providing effective, lasting solutions with minimal discomfort, helping both children and adults improve their quality of life.

Dr Bunt understands the benefits and importance of collaborative care for optimal long term results, often encouraging involvement of other health care providers on an individualized basis , such as myofunctional therapists , chiropractors, speech and language pathologists , lactation consultants, feeding specialists , sleep specialists , osteopaths, and other bodyworkers . Dr Bunt is passionate about utilizing best practices from the rapidly advancing current scientific research in this field to benefit the quality of care for his patients .

“I have been providing lip and tongue-tie assessments and frenectomy services to infants, children and adults in Ontario since 2019. I take pride in performing release surgery only when it is clinically indicated, using well published and widely accepted best practices in this field . During our consultation, I will take a detailed history and perform an anatomical and functional assessment to determine if a tongue or lip tie release is indicated for oral function, growth and development.”
